Awards
The Margaret Foti Foundation Undergraduate Prizes for Cancer Research was established in 2018 and are given at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Undergraduate Student Caucus and Poster Competition during the AACR Annual Conference. These prizes reward excellence in research conducted by undergraduate students. Presentations are judged by AACR members who are established investigators in the field. Judging is based on the student's abstract, research content of the poster, and on the student's ability to effectively present their research during the competition. In April 2022, over 100 students from top institutions across the country competed in New Orleans, LA. Presenting on research from the TEMPS Lab entitled "Engineering a cisplatin-resistant lung cancer microenvironment to model recurrence of aggressive tumors following first-line cytotoxic therapy", Omar received 3rd place along with a monetary award.
Each spring, Tulane University's Department of Biomedical Engineering faculty votes to award a graduating senior for outstanding achievement in biomedical engineering studies. Omar received this award in May 2022.
Each spring, Tulane University's Department of Biomedical Engineering awards a student for outstanding Honor's Thesis completed in the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
